reasons your business needs a podcast

Podcasting is one of the fastest growing content mediums in the world. If you think your business doesn’t need a podcast, think again, Here are four great reasons your business needs a podcast.

Podcasts Are Engaging

Imagine if a customer felt like they knew you before they ever met you. That would we an advantage right? If you listen to podcasts on a regular basis you’re familiar with how engaging they can be. The hosts of your favorite podcasts quickly come to feel like friends and turning on a podcast can be very a comforting experience. This is because podcasts are extremely transparent, it’s impossible to hide behind words on a page like you can with a magazine article, blog or social media post. However, the reward for exposing yourself to this vulnerability is the relationship you build with listeners through this type of verbal engagement.

Podcasting is One if the Fastest Growing Content Medium

If you’re not podcasting you’re not getting your business’s messaging out to an extremely large group of people. Here are a few statistics about podcasts: This year already over 112 million Americans have listened to a podcast. About 42 million Americans, roughly 15% of the country, listen to at least one podcast every week. In addition, although podcasts were previously a medium for teens and people in their early 20’s, that’s no longer the case. Currently, the average podcast listener is somewhere between 25 and 54 years old with the average skewing up. Get podcasting and get your message out to the masses!

Podcasting Increases Web Traffic

There are two ways that podcasting can improve web traffic. First, the audio portion of your website can help drive traffic to your website simply because it makes you a thought leader in your industry. As others begin to trust your advice and expertise, they’ll start to see your website as a resource for industry-relevant content. Podcasting can increase web traffic in another way as well. If you host your podcast on your site and include show notes and additional pertinent information to enhance the podcast’s audio, listeners will visit your site to get this extra info.

Podcasting is a Great Way to Repurpose Content

Aside from music, podcasting is really the only audio-based mass media medium. Therefore you have the ability repurpose podcast content and use it in other formats. Repurposing information is a great way to optimize content for the desired distribution medium. For example, it’s possible to take the content from a podcast and turn in into a video on Facebook, YouTube or both. In addition, repurposing content from a podcast is a great way to reach those that don’t listen to podcasts. Yes, contrary to this article, those people do exist.
