Ep 10 – SEO Strategy

#MilkPod Ep 10 -What is your SEO Strategy?

SEO strategy road mapToday’s episode is all about SEO strategy – search engine optimization. whether it’s your URL structure, your keyword strategy, or even your page speed, it is incredible important to have an SEO strategy in place. You can have the greatest businesses in the world, but if potential customers cannot find you on the web, you could be losing sales everyday.

There are two types of SEO strategy that are often used; black hat and white hat SEO. White hat refers to optimization strategies that are designed to bring your business to the top of the search ranks based on your human audience. Black hat refers to tactics whose goals are to “trick” the search engine algorithms to move your website to the top of the list. Black hat SEO strategy can be effective, but it is looked down upon by search engines. These are aggressive tactics that usually have a short-term affect because Google is constantly updating their algorithms to combat these strategies. Often times if Google recognizes a black hat strategy, they will penalize your site, making your site appear even lower in search results.

The technology of search engines like Google and Bing advances so quickly that SEO needs constant adjusting. TechCrunch recently released an article about Google’s artificial intelligence and how it affects SEO strategy. The advancement of technology means that your SEO cannot be a “set it and forget it” mentality. Your site must evolve in the same way as technology in order to stay on top of the search results.

And no one knows this better than Matt Baron. Matt, an SEO expert, called in to the show to discuss current SEO trends and his personal challenges when keeping up with optimization. We had a handful of questions for Matt about common SEO mistakes, and advice on proper SEO strategy.

Finally, we discussed how page speed can affect SEO and what you can do to increase your load times. The bottom line is that Google wants to give it’s end users the most accurate search results, and your SEO strategy needs to properly describe your business and it’s location. Easier said then done I know, but a strong SEO strategy can make a big difference on your bottom line.
